65 Conservative Management of Wound Dehiscence Following Inguinal Lymph Node Dissection Using Topical Metronidazole Gel Compared to Simple Wound Packing - a Cohort Study

Abstract Aim The aim of this study is to determine the effect simple packing against topical metronidazole in management wound dehiscence following inguinal lymph node dissection. Method This a retrospective cohort all adult patients who underwent groin dissection between 2014 and 2020 at Queen Elizabeth Hospital Birmingham. Patients had flaps or grafts for closure, those with incomplete follow up records were excluded. developed treated either followed regularly by specialist care nurses. Data was collected from electronic medical date procedure latest analysed SPSS. two groups compared time taken heal days as primary outcome. Results From 157 that dissection, 76 (48.4%) dehiscence. Eight them still unhealed data collection. Among 68 healed patients, 32 (47%) been metronidazole-soaked packing, 44 (53%) received without metronidazole. comparable terms age, sex, indication size. mean healing 63.7±40 days, 45 ±24.7 non-metronidazole group. difference significant p value 0.02. Conclusions Simple dehisced wounds leads significantly shorter times
